Assessment
Our school operates an ‘open door’ policy.  This means teachers will make themselves accessible to parents outside     class instruction times. Appointments are preferable. Early discussion between   teachers and parents can often  prevent more serious problems developing.
Please feel free to contact your child’s teacher.
Each term our assessment and reporting to parents takes a different approach.

Character Education
“The Creekie Way” is our way of living and contributing to the wider community. We stand by our Cornerstone Values and encourage our students in all learning experiences to put these into practice.  Every learning experience    at Spring Creek School involves an aspect of Character Education. You can see and hear the difference when students    are made to think about what they do and how this affects others.  You can find more information about Cornerstone Values at the following address.

Education Outside The Classroom
Each year 3 - 6 child is offered the opportunity to attend our annual camps. The Senior class alternate their week long EOTC trips between a city and country destination. Our most popular senior camps have taken us to Wellington,   Hanmer Springs and Nelson. Our middle class enjoy three fun-filled days alternating between Mistletoe Bay in the Marlborough Sounds and Bridge Valley, Nelson.

The Arts
The Arts play an integral part in the life and education of all children at Spring Creek School. All classrooms offer     rich learning experiences in dance, drama, visual art and music. Our two yearly school productions are a highlight of the schooling year.

Health & Physical Education
Teachers aim to develop broad based skills which will enable children to make more specialised choices later in     sport and recreation.   Lessons in a supportive relaxed atmosphere provide opportunities for the children to           enjoy physical activity. Fitness programmes support these skill lessons.

Information Communication Technology (I.C.T.)
At Spring Creek School we give our pupils the skills and confidence to use information technology across all seven learning areas in the national curriculum. We use information technology to overcome the social and distance     barriers to learning. Through the internet we can access knowledge banks of the world.
Information technology is well integrated into classroom lessons across all levels. Pupils are using a wide range of open ended software.  Desktop and laptop computers are used in all classrooms and are networked.
Classrooms are well resourced and include I.C.T equipment and phones.  The phone is for education resources and   should only be used in case of emergency.  Email is a good way to make contact.

Swimming
Swimming lessons will be taken in the school pool from the beginning of the first term until the weather becomes      too cold. Swimming lesson are also given as part of our annual participation in the Stadium 2000 Fundamental Skills.    This is part of the school programme and all children are expected to take part.
